North American Society of Toxinology

Founded in July, 2012, The North American Society of Toxinology (NAST) is a North America-based, international, multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the advancement of the science of all things venomous.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization under the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
Members include medical clinicians, veterinarians, basic scientists, zoo and collection managers, animal scientists, herpetologists, antivenom researchers and developers, drug developers, and others with an interest in venomous animals and their venoms.

Founded by the late Dr. Steven Seifert (1950 – 2022), NAST has been the sponsoring organization of the Venom Week symposium since its conception as the “Snakebites in the New Millennium” conference in 2005.
Toxicon & Toxicon X (open-source) are the official journals of NAST. Toxicon is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on publishing manuscripts describing new frontiers in toxinology, ranging from genetics & molecular biology to immunology, health sciences, pharmacology and more.
